8 Days: Your character, Will Tippin, is one of the few on Alias who's not a spy. While your co-stars are doing stunts
and running around, you've got it easy. That must be good, no?
Bradley Cooper: Not really. I'm a lot less fit than when I started. I'm really depressed about it. I've just started running again. I was
in great shape when I started.
Weight gain aside, what else makes Alias a tough gig?
It's very fast-paced because we film an episode every eight days. And there's a lot of material to pack in. There're a lot of different
setups and locations so there's a lot of moving around. So it is frenetic, but it's a sort of happy chaotic atmosphere.
Does the tight schedule cause tempers to fray?
No, everybody gets along. We all hang out when we're not working together. I go home and call the rest of the cast and talk about what happened
that day. People keep telling us that doesn't happen on other shows. When we went to the People's Choice awards, we all requested to have limos
together. They were like, 'What? You'll have a separate car.' But we insisted that we all go together.
Will has an unrequited love for Sydney (Jennifer Garner). Do you ever see them getting together?
Will had his chance and never went with it. Now years later there's this unrequited love. And he's conflicted because he's finding out the truth about
Sydney but at the same time he's trying to protect her. That's what is so great about this show, every character is multidimensional. Every character is
deceitful, which is wonderful.
What else drew you to the show?
The fact that there're veteran actors on it. I can't tell you how great that is. It adds such a wonderful dimension to it. I mean, Victor Garber and Ron
Rifkin are just as excited about the show as we are.
We hear you were a bit starstruck when Roger Moore guest starred on the show.
He was in J.J. Abram's [Alias creator] office and I was in his assistant's office right next door. She said, 'Just pop your head in and say "hello"'. I was
trying to, but I just couldn't do it. So I left and waited for half an hour. Then I went back, hoping I'd catch him as he was leaving. Lo and behold, he comes
around the corner with his wife. I was, like, 'Uh...hello.'
Although Alias has its share of fans, it hasn't been the breakout hit everyone predicted.
It has maintained a certain success, but I feel it is so different and so innovative that it's got a lot farther to go. It hasn't even begun to reach its potential.
Do you have any idea what's going to happen to your character?
None. I love to hear the manila envelope containing next week's script drop at my front door. When I do, I run to it.
